After a stellar run as the voice of the Boston Bruins, Jack Edwards has announced that the 2023-24 season will be his last.

While there's certainly been criticism of his work over the years, Jack Edwards is responsible for some of the best calls in NHL history, and now he's officially hanging it up.

After 19 years as the Boston Bruins Play-by-Play broadcaster on New England Sports Network (NESN), Jack Edwards has announced his retirement following the 2023-24 postseason games on NESN

Just days from the Stanley Cup Playoffs beginning, this has come as a major shock to those who grew up listening to Edwards, as he has been the voice of the Bruins for the past 19 seasons.

Jack, you have been the voice of a golden era of Bruins hockey.

Over the course of two decades, you brought passion and authenticity to the NESN broadcast each night as you narrated so many unforgettable moments and memories for B's fans across New England.

As you enter your next chapter, we thank you for all you've done and wish you and your family the very best.

There's many announcers excelling in hockey this season, but few have the history and the iconic voice of Edwards, so it's safe to say that things will sound a little different in Boston from next season.

W/ "gratefulness" & "a heavy heart" Jack Edwards announces his retirement from broadcasting at the end of this season: "I am no longer able to attain the standards I set for myself, to honor the fans, the players, the Bruins organization and NESN with the best they all deserve.»

My mistake. Jack said "not with a heavy heart" but with "gratefulness" «I retire from broadcasting not with a heavy heart, but gratefulness for a 19-year-long joyride. I owe my career, my own pursuit of happiness, to the love and support of my family."

"I thank every member of the Bruins and NESN for your loyalty, helping me to achieve and live out a lifetime goal, high above the ice.»
