The Anaheim Ducks shocked the NHL on Monday night when they moved talented young defenseman Jamie Drysdale to Philadelphia, and their moves may not be over.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the young star has also been made available, as told to Dreger by several rival teams.
Darren Dreger states that he's been told by several teams that F Trevor Zegras may be available via trade.
While he has struggled in 2023-24, netting just 7 points in his first 19 games, Zegras has proven to be an electric player in the NHL, so now the question is, should Toronto chase the young star?
Will Toronto make a run at Trevor Zegras?
Chasing Zegras on his own may not be a move that makes sense for Toronto, as they're counting on the likes of
Matthew Knies,
Fraser Minten,
Easton Cowan and Nick Robertson to fill holes in the bottom six, and with defense and blue line still a need, it doesn't make sense.
However, if they can pair him with
John Gibson or a blue liner like Ilya Lybushkin, it could be a worthwhile move to take a look at.
TRADE PROPOSAL
Maple leafs receive:
ZEGRAS, LYNUSHKIN and GIBSON
Ducks receive:
ROBERTSON, LILJEGREN, 3rd Round Pick, 4th Round Pick
While the Leafs don't ideally want to move Knies or any of the players above, if they can find a line with Domi, Knies and Zegras, there's a chance that the bottom-six could come to life, and while it means giving up several picks and a talented young player or two, it should be something Toronto take a look at.
Reminder: Trevor Zegras only has seven points this season.
