Team Canada announced that Sidney Crosby is a game-time decision heading into the gold medal game against Team USA on Sunday.
With Sidney Crosby's status for the gold medal game in doubt, fans were wondering what his status was going to be as the all-time Canadian leader in points at the Olympics missed the semifinals against Finland after receiving a bone-crunching hit courtesy of Radko Gudas in the quarterfinals.
Though head coach Jon Cooper was confident he may be able to suit up and that the team wanted to give Crosby more time, it seems like it still is a touch and go situation:
According to Elliotte Friedman, Crosby is set to be a game-time decision as the team waits things out a little bit longer, though they have confirmed as well that defenceman Josh Morrissey is not going to be playing for sure, and will end his Olympics after only one game.
Crosby's status is such a hot button topic not only because of the potential severity of the situation considering how much pain he looked to be in, but that this also could be his last Olympics unless he is able to stick around until 2030.
It's also something that Penguins fans are concerned with considering their long-time captain and franchise legend is going to be instrumental in keeping their playoff hopes alive, and any loss of Crosby will make things so much harder for Dan Muse's squad.
Crosby was fantastic during the tournament so far, registering six points in four games (2 goals, 4 assists) with a plus-three rating.
This is a developing story. More details to come.
