In breaking news, Sheldon Keefe has just called out the NHL for having a double standard when it comes to punishment for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Sheldon Keefe Comments on Morgan Rielly's In-Person Hearing for Crosscheck to Ridly Greig

The Toronto Maple Leafs held a practice today after a disappointing loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night. The discussion, though, was still focussed on Morgan Rielly's crosscheck to Ridly Greig at the end of the game, and the subsequent request for an in-person hearing from the Department of Player Safety.

Now, Sheldon Keefe has commented on the in-person hearing, saying that they were surprised that he could be getting so many games, but he isn't surprised at the same time because they are the Leafs.

Sheldon Keefe's reaction to Morgan Rielly require an in-person hearing.

"I was surprised. We spend a lot of time watching pretty much every cross-check that's happened in the last number of years, and the ones that I thought were similar in nature to Morgan's were nothing close to requiring that. But at the same time, there's a history of events that happened in Toronto and with the Leafs they get more attention, more hype. That tends to lead to something such as this. So, to that end, not surprised. It's out of our hands and we'll get ready to play tomorrow."

With the inconsistencies around the Department of Player Safety's punishments this season, it is hard to know what Rielly might get. We await the decision that is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
