Treliving's Priorities.

Brad Treliving has a significant amount of work to tackle this summer.
With 22 free agents on the Leafs roster, he's faced with some tough decisions.
A top priority on his list is extending Auston Matthews' contract. He'll be a free agent next summer and Treliving is resolute about signing him before that time arrives.
Dealing with the goaltender situation is another priority. While Woll seems safe, Samsonov is hunting for a new contract, and many hope Matt Murray will be traded.
But there's another task on Treliving's agenda: bolstering the blue line.

A Surprising Move on the Horizon?

According to David Pagnotta, Treliving is aiming to upgrade the Leafs' defensive core, even if it isn't deficient at the moment.
He isn't just considering bringing back Luke Schenn. Though that would be interesting, he's focusing on larger initiatives.
Treliving is intent on transforming the blue line. His past actions underscore the importance of this area; he's drafted several talented defensemen and secured many others through trades.
Notable names like Dougie Hamilton, Adam Fox, MacKenzie Weegar, and Rasmus Andersson have all had interactions with Treliving at various points in their careers.
Now, several players rumored to pique Treliving's interest, such as Brett Pesce and Erik Karlsson, are becoming available.
With a reputation for making impactful moves on the defensive end, it will be fascinating to watch the developments in Toronto.
