Newest NHL Stats Shows That Coyotes 5000-Seat Arena is Still a Massive Failure
The Arizona Coyotes are currently playing at Arizona State University's Mullett Arena. If it wasn't already embarrassing that an NHL team was playing at a University arena, a new stat makes everything even worse.
The Twitter account NHL Watcher posts average attendance stats, and things are bleak for the Yotes. Despite only needing to sell 5000 seats, which every other NHL team could do in minutes, the fabled Arizona team cannot even sellout.
In fact, they only sold 4600 seats on average, or 92%. 92% wouldn't be the worst for an NHL team, if they were playing in a full-size arena.
At this point, if this isn't an indication that the Coyotes are a failed experiment, I don't know what is.
With plans to build a new mega-arena in Tempe, that would cost several billion dollars, it could be too late for Gary Bettman and the NHL to come to their senses.
