Maple Leafs Reveal Plans for Connor Timmins and Timothy Liljegren

The Leafs have made some major roster changes this season, Kyle Dubas, the GM for the Leafs is yet to acquire a star defensemen.

Dubas acquired Luke Shenn from the Canucks and Erik Gustafsson from the Generals. The Gustafsson trade was lateral, costing the team Rasmus Sandin, but equally gaining a first round pick. Earlier in the season the team also acquired Conor Timmins from the Coyotes, but he has already been pushed out of the lineup due to recent acquisitions. There is also Timothy Lijegren, who finds himself in a similar situation.

One begins to wonder the future of these two players, who have solid stats, but struggle to get ice-time

Elliotte Friedman, an NHL insider has spoken about the situation, stating

»The Maple Leafs were honest with Conor Timmins, letting him know the added defenders will hurt his ice time — but he's very much in their plans. The more delicate balance will be with Timothy Liljegren, who returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing a pair of games.»

This is not the worst idea, but it would be nice to see the guys get more ice-time. Both players have put up solid performances despite these circumstances.

Perhaps the Leafs should let these two players grow, instead of discarding them.
