The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired the UFA rights to Chris Tanev

UPDATE: As the NHL Draft wraps up one more major trade has been made that lands the Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev.

Reports are coming in as the NHL Draft ends that the Toronto Maple Leafs have traded for the rights to Chris Tanev from the Dallas Stars.

Heading back to the Dallas Stars in return will be a 2026 7th round NHL Draft pick and Max Ellis

As of now Chris Tanev is set to be a free agent on Monday but the Toronto Maple Leafs must be confident they can get a deal done before then. If they re-sign Chris Tanev he will be a massive boost to the Toronto Maple Leafs defense heading into next season.
