Bruins reporter Dominic Tiano was the first to report this news this afternoon. However, there are no other signs that point to a trade being imminent. The Bruins netminder has been a mainstay in trade rumors this season as the team appears to be favoring Jeremy Swayman for the future. They even attempted to trade the goaltender to the LA Kings at the trade deadline, but he used his trade protection to reject the deal.
Linus Ullmark invokes no-trade clause to reject trade to LA Kings
Tiano also is reporting that there is no specific deal in place for Ullmark at this moment. this makes sense as the 30-year-old is not eligible to sign a contract with the Senators until July 1st. As such, the two teams very well could have a handshake agreement to a sign-and-trade the moment free agency opens.
This lines up with what other NHL insiders have been reporting. David Pagnotta also believes that Ullmark has already agreed to waive his no-trade-clause in order to go to the Ottawa Senators, and thus, it is just down to formalities at this point.
Ullmark was very good for the Bruins this season, putting up a .915 save percentage and a 2.57 goals-against-average. Both of these numbers are just shy of his career averages. If he can perform to that level next season, the Senators will have a very good chance of making the playoffs.
