Edmonton police have been investigating a stabbing and other acts of violence (including barricade rushing and finger biting) during a watch party for the Oilers' Game 6 win against the Los Angeles Kings.

Two people were stabbed before the assailant — identified as Jordan Reilly Fouquette — was shot by police. Both victims are hospitalized, but are in stable condition. Fouquette, 20, is also in stable condition and has been charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two additional counts of aggravated assault.

Other investigations have also emerged from that evening's watch party. According to Edmonton police chief Dale McFee, police are looking into allegations of finger biting. Police, the city of Edmonton and Oilers Entertainment Group had also planned to hold discussions regarding fan safety, particularly as a security barrier was broken down to get in to the Moss Pit watch party.

The Stanley Cup playoffs will always result in intense emotions and a certain amount of alcohol being consumed, but it becomes dangerous whenever it leads to violence. It's paramount for everyone involved in any public event to keep others safe — especially during fun, communal events like sports watch parties.
