Blue Jays pitcher and Toronto sports icon Jim Clancy sadly passed away on Monday at the age of 69 as the city mourns the loss.

On Monday, the Toronto sports world lost a true icon of the city as it was announced that former Blue Jays pitcher Jim Clancy had tragically passed away at the age of 69.
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Blue Jays great, Jim Clancy.

Clancy spent 12 of his 15 Major League seasons with Toronto - including an All-Star appearance in 1982 - and ranks second in franchise history in starts, innings pitched, and complete games.

His impact on our organization will be remembered forever.

Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Clancy posted a 128-140 record in his 12 seasons with the Blue Jays, registering a 4.23 ERA with 1,422 strikeouts, 73 complete games and over 2,200 innings with the team.
His best season came in 1982 where he was an All-Star, posting a 16-14 record with a 3.71 ERA and 139 Ks to only 77 BBs.
Clancy continued his career post-Toronto with the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves, pitching his last season in 1991.
Clancy is second all-time in franchise history in starts, inning pitched and complete games. He is also third all-time in Blue Jays history with 128 wins, only behind legends Dave Stieb (175) and Roy Halladay (148).
He's also been one of their most successful pitchers, as his 24.8 WAR is fifth all-time among Blue Jays pitchers and his 352 games played is eighth all-time.
Also remembered for his humility, kindness, and veteran leadership as he was memorialized by fans and former teammates.
Clancy never stuck around during the Blue Jays' dominant 1992 and 1993 seasons where they won back-to-back World Series titles, but was a key piece in creating their identity; one that is still prominent to this very day.
We hear at Hockey Patrol would like to extend our condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and everyone affected by the passing of Jim Clancy.
May he rest in peace.
