While he had some glorious days in St. Louis, including a Conn Smythe winning Stanley Cup clinching 2019, things are looking towards a re-tool in St. Louis.
Ryan O'Reilly, their captain, has a lot of value. He's still a great player, and could be an important piece in another team lifting the cup come June.
One team that has been tied to him for a while is the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Ryan O'Reilly, a Toronto native, would likely be willing to take a discount to re-sign in the six.
Per Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic, the cost to acquire Ryan O'Reilly would be quite imposing:
Knies and Minten are the two best prospects in the Maple Leafs system. While they are by no means superstar talents, they are still important pieces.
Adding a first round pick in a stacked draft, this would be the Leafs going all in.
Do you think they should do it?
