Maple Leafs Fans Voice Frustration Over Toronto's Support for Oilers in Finals

Toronto Maple Leafs fans were not impressed with how the city decided to celebrate the Oilers run to the Stanley Cup after lighting up the CN Tower.
As the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers look to
face off once again for the Stanley Cup, the City of Toronto is clearly putting their faith in their Albertan neighbors, as they are lighting up the CN Tower in orange and blue hues to cheer on the Canadian side.
Fans are outraged that Toronto is catering to other teams
But as much as it's a nice gesture, the fans are not too happy about it and believe that it's as bad as catering to other Canadian teams; regardless of rivalries or not.
It seems that the act drew the ire of fans, stating that it would be the equivalent of cheering on the Canadiens, and many seemed to echo that sentiment.
However, fans were also quick to remind everyone that not only did the city do the same thing with the Habs in 2021, but that the general consensus is an Edmonton win is a win for Canada as a whole.
Is it really that big of a deal in the end?
Honestly, not really. While it's completely understandable that fans would be upset that it seems their city and team is pandering to the masses, but genuinely who cares?
The last time a Canadian team won a Stanley Cup was 30+ years ago with the Montreal Canadiens. Does it sting that Toronto's biggest rivals were the last ones to do it?
Sure, but with the recent explosion of teams like Vegas, Florida, Tampa Bay and Los Angeles; it's becoming less and less likely a Canadian team will win.
Everyone wants their team to win, but when it's you vs. essentially the world (who has
the league in their back pocket it feels like); take what you can get.
Connor McDavid deserves to win a Cup, and perhaps fans should look at the bigger picture instead. If he wins, he's done pretty much everything he can with the Oilers, so he might decide to see if he can do it with the Leafs.
Showing some goodwill towards his current team might end up going a long way in the quest to end up signing McDavid.
It's just a few lights people; let's focus on making sure the Cup is back in Canada once again.
It's not a Maple Leafs/Oilers thing. It's a Canada/US thing.
