Hockey World Rallies Around NHL Player After Fiancée's Life-Saving Heart Transplant

The hockey world rallied around some very good news as it was revealed that Buffalo's Rasmus Dahlin's wife underwent a life-saving surgery.
Although the focus of the NHL right now is training camp, it still doesn't underscore the day-to-day lives of the NHL players who are participating.
They have families, wives, children, and all of those outside factors at a moment's notice can turn their lives upside down, and potentially lead to some unfortunate situations.
The Player's Emotional Statement on His Fiancée's Health Battle
For Rasmus Dahlin, one particular situation became an incredibly stressful, anxiety-riddled and genuinely scary time, as he dealt with a situation where his wife Carolina became ill while on vacation and things quickly went downhill which necessitated the need for a heart transplant.
However, it seems like as scary as that incident was for the Dahlin family as a whole, the Sabres defenseman revealed that all is well after Carolina received a heart transplant; writing a letter to the Sabres and their fans.

I want to share with you a traumatic experience that my fiancée, Carolina, and our families experienced this offseason.
While on vacation in France early this summer, Carolina began to feel sick for a few days, which quickly turned into her experiencing major heart failure. Fortunately, she received CPR on multiple occasions, and up to a couple of hours at a time to keep her alive, which ultimately saved her life.
Without her receiving lifesaving CPR, the result would have been unimaginable. It is hard to even think about the worst-case scenario.
She was transferred to a hospital where she remained on life support for weeks before she was a beneficiary of a heart transplant while still in France.

Dahlin also took the time to thank the greater hockey community as well as his team for their efforts in making sure he and his family were well-informed, comfortable, and safe.

Dahlin, 25, is the captain of the team and one of the top defensemen in the league and while he certainly has his rivals, this is no time for petty bickering; it's full-on support.
