Four Players Suddenly Hit Waivers, per Elliotte Friedman

It was a bit of a busy day for the NHL waiver wire, as Elliotte Friedman reports that four players ended up being assigned, leaving teams free to scoop them up.
While the trade deadline is long behind us, and teams are more than likely set for the playoffs given there's only a month left, there's still some movement going on which means some unfortunate news for some players.
If any of these players are claimed off waivers, they will need to wait to play with their respective teams, as any additions post-deadline will not be eligible as Friedman cleared up as well.
It will certainly be interesting to see if any teams are willing to take a flier on any of these players, and there's still some potential upside with a couple of names.
Who Got Assigned To Waivers?
First off is Devin Shore, the Dallas Stars' 61st overall pick in 2012. A journeyman of sorts, he skated in 51 games for the Minnesota Wild this season, registering five points and a minus-six rating.
He had a lot of success in his first two seasons with the Stars, however has been derailed with injuries and hasn't played in over 55 games since 2017-18. After Dallas,
Shore made stops in Anaheim, Columbus, Edmonton, Seattle, and finally Minnesota.
For his career, he has 144 points in 494 games (52G, 92A) and will turn 31 this summer. He could find himself signed to an AHL team as a veteran power forward, however it's unlikely given his track record.
Patrick Brown is an intriguing name, as there was a lot of hype surrounding the forward after his college run, but never panned out. Signed by Carolina in 2014, he spent a lot of time in the AHL, before signing with Vegas.
He bounced around waivers and was picked up by Philadelphia, then traded to the Senators before settling with the Bruins.
In 162 games,
Brown has a paltry 26 points and is a career minus-29, and there's unfortunately not much time left for him and a potential move to Europe may be in his future.
Lettieri, a standout at the University of Minnesota, much like Brown has never found his footing in the NHL though he does have slightly better numbers.
He could very well find himself on a new team, given just how good he has been in the AHL and hasn't had too much of a shot to showcase what he can do.
While he only has 30 points in 148 career NHL games (never scoring more than five goals a season), he does have 285 points (140G, 145A) in 323 games; so clearly there's a lot of talent there.
Lettieri has played with the New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, and the Boston Bruins.
Gaunce had potentially the most promise out of the four, as he was drafted 26th overall by the Canucks in 2012.
Playing mostly in a fourth line role, he didn't have great numbers though did end up carving out a decent career.
In 189 games, he has 29 points but did end up winning a championship in Sweden back in 2020-21 with Vaxjo.
Besides Vancouver, he made stops in Boston, Columbus and finally Minnesota.
If any NHL teams want to claim these players, they have 24 hours to do so, at which point they will be assigned to the minors, or may have their contracts terminated.
