Former Toronto Maple Leafs player Eddie Joyal has sadly passed away at the age of 86, the NHL Alumni Association announced on Monday.
In a sad bit of news in the hockey world, the NHL announced that Eddie 'The Jet' Joyal had sadly passed away at the age of 86. The longtime Kings and Oilers player was beloved in his communities and was even celebrated by the Oilers as part of his own 'Eddie Joyal Day' to celebrate his accomplishments and career with friends and family.

The NHL Amumni Association put out a statement regarding the passing of Joyal (full statement in tweet):
The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened to learn that Eddie Joyal has passed away at the age of 86.
From Edmonton, Alberta, Eddie's NHL career began during the 1962-63 season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he'd be mentored by none other than Mr. Hockey himself, Gordie Howe.
As the NHL expanded in 1967, Eddie joined the Los Angeles Kings and played 318 games for Los Angeles from 1967 to 1972, joining the Philadelphia Flyers partway through the 1971-72 season, playing the final 26 of his 465 NHL games with Philadelphia.

Joyal had a very solid NHL career where he amassed 262 points in 465 games with his best seasons coming back to back in 1967-68 and 1968-69 where he had a combined 56 goals and 109 points with nearly 450 shots on goal as well.
Joyal only spent one season in Toronto though, appearing in 14 games and registering two assists.
The Kings drafted him as part of the expansion draft when they entered the league in 1967 and he came over to Toronto in a blockbuster deal that sent former Hart Trophy winner Andy Bathgate to the Red Wings for a package that included Joyal.
