Following a controversial exit from the NHL, the Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov signed a lucrative contract in the KHL, and the full details were recently unveiled.
Indeed, it has been confirmed that the former member of the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes joined St. Petersburg SKA in the KHL.
"Evgeny Kuznetsov's run in the NHL is officially over; he has signed a four-year deal with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL."
A new report shed light on his deal, and an interesting detail emerged about his salary.
Kuznetsov signed a four-year contract valued at 92 million rubles, and he plays under number 92. This has often been seen in the NHL, like when Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins did with his 8.7 million deal.
"SKA will make a very nice move, which is sometimes practiced in the NHL - for example, Sidney Crosby signed a contract with an average salary of $8.7 million per year in honor of the fact that he plays under number 87. Evgeny Kuznetsov will receive a four-year contract in St. Petersburg, the average salary of which will be 92 million rubles."
At the end of his contract, he will be 36 years old. If he remains healthy, he could very well play much longer, and even attempt a return to North America.
