On Saturday, the Minnesota Wild will face the St. Louis Blues at the Minnesota Twins' stadium at -15F (-26C).
Rain or shine, the NHL executive Steve Mayer stated. "We know that when we enter any venue. And, like with any game, we'll watch the weather and make judgments that benefit both players and fans.
"Experts weigh in, but the weather is continually changing. It moves. We won't make educated guesses. We'll base our conclusion on facts.
"We are optimistic that the game will proceed as planned."
The NHL's first outdoor game was the coldest ever. This year's Heritage Classic between the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens was played at -17C (-0F).
