All indications point to Tuukka Rask returning to the Bruins this season.
With a 14-10-2 record, Bruce Cassidy's team is still out of the playoff picture. Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark have good numbers, but the Bruins may be lacking a spark in an increasingly competitive NHL.
Tuukka Rask, who is still unsigned, practised with his teammates on Sunday and could return in three weeks, according to coach Bruce Cassidy.
The Bruins will host the Carolina Hurricanes on January 18. On Jan. 8, Cassidy said the team was planning a road trip, but they needed to make sure the Finnish goalie was fully recovered.
"We had to choose. How can we offer him a day of practise while also resting our guys while we're on the road? We talked about it. Where will he train if not with us? Will it be with Providence or the injured guys here? That was also an option. I was told he'd be ready to play after a week if the doctors approve."
Rask had hip surgery in late July to repair a torn labrum. Last season, the 34-year-old Finnish goalie went 15-5-2 with a 2.28 GAA,.913 save percentage, and two shutouts in 24 starts.
He's spent his entire career in Boston and wants to retire here.
That's right Bruins fans, Rask may be returning on January 18th!
