Petry had alot of pressure placed on his shoulders with captain Shea Weber out this season. Not to blame it all on him, however he hasn't been the player this season the Canadiens we're hoping for.
This had to be frustrating to Petry who's having the worst season of his career.
The breaking point appeared to be Saturday's game, when Edmonton Oilers Zack Kassian knocked over Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault.
Jeff Petry was the closest Habs player near the net when it happened and did nothing.
He was later criticize by fans and media demanding his trade.
Hughes though made it clear that while he's willing to accommodate, the trade has to benefit the Canadiens not just Petry.
