On Friday, the same day as the Habs' review, we were surprised to learn that Joel Bouchard was leaving his position as head coach of the Laval Rocket. He chose to join the Anaheim Ducks organization to lead their AHL school club, the San Diego Gulls. Since then, many names have been mentioned to take Bouchard's place in Laval.

It seems that the names mentioned were not so far from reality. According to what Jean-Philippe Bertrand reports in his podcast La Dose, three candidates will be interviewed on Monday. They are Gilles Bouchard, Éric Veilleux and Louis Robitaille.

Gilles Bouchard and Eric Veilleux are both currently assisting Benoit Groulx with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. Robitaille is the head coach (and GM) of the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL.

The ideal candidate for this position would be Alex Burrows. Even if his name is not among the candidates, he spent nearly three seasons with the Rocket and knows the players very well. He could very well continue what Joel Bouchard started, knowing very well how he worked. This would be a great stepping stone if he wants to try his luck as a head coach in the NHL in the future.
