When the Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars play intense action and rough hits are usually in play. Last game there were two fights, and in this game there was another fight and a dirty hit that will likely result in a suspension.

There were 45 minutes in penalties handed down, with Dallas winning the special teams battle as they capitalized on five of eight powerplays, including two goals on the fine minute advantage.

How and when the hit occurred in the game

During the game there was a fight in the first, between Connor Dewar and Craig Smith, with seven minor penalties handed out before the 16:00 mark of the second period.

However, at the 18:14 mark of the second period Brandon Duhaime lined up Thomas Harley and gave him a nasty hit from behind. Harley stayed on the ice for a bit, and then never returned to the game in the third period.

He was given a five minute major and a game misconduct. It will also likely earn him a call from the NHL's Department of Player Safety, especially with Harley not returning to the game.

The rest of the game between the two teams

The final period only saw three penalties occur as the game had calmed down once it became 7-3 after the second goal on the fine-minute advantage. The penalties were one against the Wild and two against the Stars.

Brandon Duhaime has never been suspended in the NHL, but he did have a close call in October 2021 after a hit from behind on the Avalanche's Bowen Byram that was called crosschecking in the game. He was given a five-minute major in the game, but NHL Player Safety left it at that.
