Survey revealed NHL players want to play in America instead of Canada

The last time a team won the Stanley Cup from a Canadian team was 1993 when the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Los Angeles kings in game 5 by a score of 4-1 in Montreal.

However it's been a growing trend that players don't want to play for a Canadian team, making it more difficult for teams in Canada to win the Stanley Cup. With all the rules and restrictions due to covid pandemic it's only getting worse. Players don't want to get traded or sign with Canadian teams.

With the 7 teams in the great white north provides one third the league's revenue that's becoming a problem. This is something the NHL needs to work on a find a solution for the teams in Canada to stay competitive.

Sportsnet's Hockey insider Elliotte Friedman said, "An anonymous player feels like the Leon Draisaitl incident with Jim Matheson interviews don't happen in America."

It's also been the taxes compared to its counterpart in America is much worse especially in Quebec. The Canadian dollar isn't also helping matters with it being so low compared to the USD dollar.

Quebec also has been trying for years to bring a team back to it's city either by expansion or relocation, but not having much luck in that fight either.

The Arizona Coyotes are struggling to pay their bills but it seems that Commissioner Gary Bettman and the NHL would rather keep its team there then let it relocate to Quebec.
