The Montreal Canadiens seventh round pick in 2018, Brett Stapley, has agreed to terms on a one season, one piece contract with the Laval Rocket.
This is a surprise signing, as Stapley had become a free agent and the Habs had not wanted to retain his rights in recent weeks.
So, Stapley will not be among the 50 NHL eligible contracts of the CH. The team's GM is leaving himself room to make other moves.
The 23-year-old scored 43 points in 41 games last season at the university level.
