It was a big night for the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday as they won their second straight Stanley Cup and third in franchise history. In the post-game interviews, it appears that Lightning star Nikita Kucherov may have had one too many beers, and made some interesting comments when discussing Montreal Canadiens fans.
"I'm so happy I didn't want to go back to Montreal but they acted, the fans in Montreal, c'mon. They acted like they won the Stanley Cup last game. You kidding me?? [Bangs podium for emphasis] Are you kidding me?"
Kucherov took a lot of heat on Twitter for those comments, but his fellow countryman and teammate Mikhail Sergachev came to his defence and even claimed that Habs fans were sending death threats to the team and their families.
No one should ever send death threats to anyone, especially sending them to families of players who have done absolutely nothing wrong. It's okay to be angry and upset at an opposing team, but fans should never stoop to that level of sending threats to players or their families.
