After reports last month that Giroux and the Flyers were holding off until the trade deadline, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman stated on NHL Network that the Colorado Avalanche would be Giroux's ideal trade destination.
Given Giroux's $8.25 million cap hit, Friedman suggested a three-way trade including a team willing to absorb some of Giroux's cap charge.
His possibilities were the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, and New Jersey Devils. The Arizona Coyotes have two retained salaries but can only have three. It all depends on what they get as a deal sweetener.
Giroux has never won a Stanley Cup in his NHL career and may be open to going to a competitive team at the deadline to win a Cup. He's been mentioned a lot lately.
