When Patrick Roy expressed his interest in the open GM position of the Montreal Canadiens, many Internet users said Roy would never be able to live with Jeff Gorton, who has more authority in field hockey choices than he does.
The ex-Chicago goalie is accused of having too much energy and explosiveness to follow orders from the man who would be his immediate boss if he become the GM.
But La Presse journalist Alexandre Pratt wanted to get to know Patrick Roy the field hockey player better to disprove certain myths about him.
The anonymous responses he received from people who know him well and have worked with him for a long time.
"He's a team guy, who listens and respects the opinions of others."
"Patrick Roy is someone who likes to be challenged, as long as your arguments are solid."
"He's the one who makes the decision. But he assumes the result, good or bad."
Alain Préfontaine, a scout who worked with Roy and the Quebec Remparts for ten years, came to confirm all this.
''I worked ten years with Patrick Roy and it's exactly that!''
