Detroit Red Wings have signed free agent forward Carter Rowney to a one-year contract to serve as a role player.
Rowney, 32, won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2017. He's a right-handed player, which the Red Wings need. In a season cut short by injury, he scored six points in 19 games with the Anaheim Ducks.
