On Saturday night, SN columnist Frank Seravalli dropped a bombshell on social media claiming that the Canadiens have reportedly discussed asking Carey Price to waive his no-movement clause to put him on the exposed list for next Wednesday's expansion draft.

Following this surprising announcement, Pierre LeBrun came to knock us out completely by mentioning that, according to his sources, the CH would not only have discussed the project, but that Price himself would have accepted.
"I'm hearing that Carey Price has waived his no-movement clause for exposure in the expansion draft so the Tricolore can protect Jake Allen. The idea is that Seattle wouldn't want the rest of Price's big contract back. But I guess we'll see." - Pierre LeBrun
Keep in mind that not only does Montreal expose Price and his big contract taking $10.5 million off the payroll for another five seasons, but that contract also comes with huge signing bonuses. If the Kraken selects Price, they will have to pay him an $11 million bonus on September 1. The goalie will then receive bonuses of 6.75M, 6.5M, 5.5M and 5.5M in the last four seasons of his contract.
Another thing, Price has a no-movement clause in his contract that would follow him if he was claimed by Seattle. He could not be, following his selection, traded without his agreement by the Kraken if they wanted to take advantage of his market value.
We will know on Sunday if Price was indeed left unprotected by the Habs when the NHL unveils its rosters. The expansion draft will take place on July 21st when Ron Francis will present his roster for the upcoming season.
