NHL star finds himself on the trading block

The Chicago Blackhawks sit 7th in the Central division and 11 points out of the playoffs. The Hawks want to change direction the team has beem going and move some players.

Hockey insider Frank Seravalli had this to say: «My sense is that the Chicago Blackhawks know they need to shake things up there regarding the trade deadline. Alex DeBrincat, Brandon Hagel, and Dominik Kubalik are all potentially available."

«The guy that I got circled there that is going to be an interesting conversation is Alex DeBrincat. He's a guy that has scored at will, it seems. Has one more year left on his deal at $6.4M and then at the end of it is a restricted free agent. He's got 23 goals this season, a pretty significant pace that he is playing at, and my sense is that the Blackhawks know they need to shake things up and I think the general consensus is that Toews, Kane, and Seth Jones are the three untouchables. If you'd like to take a run at Alex DeBrincat, at Kubal�k, at Brandon Hagel, or at Ryan Carpenter, go down the list and they are all potentially available.»

This has to be shocking to Blackhawks fans because most figured Alex DeBrincat was untouchable and would be part of the team's plans going forward. DeBrincat is in his second year of his current contract with a annual salary of $6,400,000 he's a pending RFA at the end of the 2022-23 NHL season.

Alex DeBrincat is just 24 years old, he was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2016 NHL draft, 39th overall. The forward has 142 goals and 119 assists for a total of 261 points in 325 games with the Blackhawks.
