Matthews' legendary reply to reporter when asked about how he ran the crossebar

Matthews, unsurprisingly, found it amusing, and when questioned about it over the weekend, he appeared displeased that anyone had dared to confront him about it. When asked how the scenario occurred and if he was too focused on Sidney Crosby at the time, Matthews responded by ridiculing the reporter.

"I spotted the crossbar and I just wanted to shove my face straight through it and see what happens," Matthews said. "Awesome question."

But he did crack a smile after ridiculing the reporter, so perhaps he recognises that the whole event came out as a little goofy to those on the outside looking in.
