During his rant after winning the Cup, Kucherov brought up the fact that he felt that close friend and teammate Andrei Vasilevskiy was robbed of the Vezina Trophy due to poor voting on the award that ultimately went to veteran Marc-Andre Fleury. He used the phrase "number one bullshit" during his half-drunken tangent.
On Saturday, Kucherov, along with agent Dan Milstein, the aforementioned Vasilevskiy and defenseman Mikhail Sergachev were spotted on a boat in Tampa Bay drinking Bud Light, wearing shirts screenwriter with "Number One Bullshit". Milstein must have had someone on speed dial because that was fast.
Sportsnet's Nick Alberga decided to chime in, bringing up the Lightning's infamous massive salary cap number, appearing to poke fun after the Bolts ran the gauntlet to repeat as champions. Milstein's retort was absolutely priceless.
Milstein indicated that the Bolts are in the process of creating another wave of novelty t-shirts, this time making light of the team's massive salary cap advantage in the postseason. They plan to wear the shirts during the team's official Stanley Cup Parade.
Really, it's all in good fun. Credit to the Bolts for pulling off the back-to-back Stanley Cup wins and having a sense of humour about both the salary cap criticism and the Kucherov interview.
