Pierre LeBrun claimed on Insider Trading on TSN that Giroux's status in Philly will have to be seen closer to the trade deadline.

No significant news at the time, other that Giroux is patient. And so will the fans:
"Right, and it was by design, as both he and the Flyers' administration, led by GM Chuck Fletcher, decided to wait for a contract extension in the off-season."
''They were at ease heading into this year, waiting to see how things turned out. But, in the interim, his name keeps cropping up in the rumour mill for no apparent reason. For one thing, I can tell you that the Flyers have not approached any teams about Claude Giroux.''
''Claude Giroux has not yet been approached by the Flyers about the trade deadline. Claude Giroux hasn't spoken to the Flyers about the trade deadline, and he hasn't even spoken to his agent, veteran Pat Brisson, about it. Why?''
''People, the trade deadline is nine weeks away. Take a deep breath, everyone. I realise it's the middle of January, but there's still plenty of time. Yes, the conversation about Claude Giroux will have to take place if the Flyers don't turn their season around. He's on a complete no-move. He has more power over his destiny as March 21 approaches."
