The internet, of course, began speculating on what was wrong with Petry. Everything from a hard night in Vegas to allergies and everything in between was brought up. Petry's wife Julie made a post on her Instagram that attempted to dispel some of those rumours.
"No, it's not allergies. No, it's not after a couple nights in Vegas. No, it's not bloodshot because he's tired. No, they don't hurt or bother him," said Julie. "All related to his 'upper-body injury', but let me tell you, he looks A LOT better than he did a week ago."
The Canadiens told reporters that Petry has a subconjunctival hemorrhage, which is when the blood vessels burst in your eyes. However, that doesn't explain much as that's the condition, not what caused it. There's some speculation that it may be a side effect of the medication Petry is taking, but that has not been confirmed. It's good to know that it's not painful and it didn't seem to impact his performance last night as the Habs won game 2 3-2 to tie the series at one game each.
