Joel Edmundson was a regular in the Habs postseason lineup. His steadiness and defensive presence in front of the net set him apart. But life isn't always about hockey, and he was primarily missing this season.
Bob Edmundson, his father, had been battling illness for some time and things were becoming worse. That his son, Joel, chose not to join the squad was reasonable.
Sad news for the Canadiens' defenceman as his father died away early yesterday. A real Manitoban, Bob Edmundson was a hockey lover first and foremost.
RIP my friend.
