"Having a big, physical first night with the Rangers isn't where we want to be this year," Wilson said. "We have a lot of goals. I want to score goals. I want to be a leader. I want to take on more responsibility and get our team to the playoffs and hopefully more."
It's an unusual statement from Wilson, who was at the centre of the Washington-New York feud. To counteract Wilson's physicality, the Rangers acquired Ryan Reaves from the Vegas Golden Knights in the off-season. Wilson says he'll remain calm.
"My job is to play my game," Wilson said. "If we're going to go on the power play, that's great. We've got a lot of good players in this room that can make things happen out there."
