Lundqvist began by praising fellow Swede and Calgary Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom on his outstanding season. But he must choose Andrei Vasilevskiy.
"I love Vasilevskiy," Lundqvist stated. "I'm sticking with Vasilevskiy."
While all of this is subjective, that choice is hard to contest. Vasilevskiy has won two Stanley Cups, the Vezina Trophy, and the Conn Smythe. He's been to four NHL All-Star games and shows no signs of slowing down.
Also brought up was Lundqvist's childhood idol, current Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin.
"Yes, he said so when we met. It was nice. Unhappy to admit I was someone's idol, but it was true."
