Mark Stone will be placed on LTIR, according to GM Kelly McCrimmon.
Stone is out due to a "back issue". His $9.5 million cap hit will now be off the books (obviously).
This will allow the Golden Knights to quickly activate Jack Eichel and Alec Martinez. During the playoffs, there is no salary cap, therefore they won't have to shift any salary.
If he returns before then, they'll have to trade to stay within the cap.
How is the league letting this happen...I wonder what other GMs are thinking right now.
