The Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres have to be at the top of the list of underachieving teams this season; both teams invested a lot of money on free agents and haven't gotten anything in return. Both teams' cores will undoubtedly shift, but can the Flames and Sabres support each other while still completing a blockbuster deal?
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also reported that the Flames and Sabres were discussing a possible Sam Reinhart trade as well. Calgary GM Brad Treliving has stated that he is looking to shake-up the core of his team and making this kind of deal would certainly qualify.
If Calgary covets both Reinhart and Eichel the Flames would surely have to include a center in the trade. A trade may look like this:
Buffalo- Matt Tkachuk, Elias Lindholm, Connor Zary and 1st round pick
Calgary- Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart
Jack Eichel's time as a Sabre appears to be over, will the superstar end up leading the Flames in the battle of Alberta against rival Connor McDavid and the Oilers? How much fun would that be to watch??
