The Canadiens fan website Danslescoulisses revealed that two sources said Marc-Andre Fleury was almost moved to Montreal.
On July 18th, the Canadiens announced that Carey Price will not be protected from the Kraken. However, the two sources told Danslescoulisses that GM Marc Bergevin planned to deal for Fleury before he was traded to the Blackhawks.
So, as the Hawks were acquiring Flower on July 27th, the Canadiens were preparing for a possible deal with the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of the NHL Draft. When it came time to pick a Montreal player, Kraken GM Ron Francis went with Cale Fleury. Isn't that crazy!
Imagine Marc Andre Fleury as a Canadien and Carey Price as a Kraken that's just mind blowing.
