Philadelphia Flyers Legend Excutive Bobby Clarke sheds some more light on Flyers former GM Ron Hextall. Clarke, who's remained an executive, says the team admits Hextall was hard to work with.
During an interview on the Rod and Strict Podcast, Clarke told Them, "Hextall saddled the team up with some major issues that will be affecting them long term."
As Clarke mentioned previously, no one one the Flyers including all the scouts wanted Nolan Patrick in the draft as they wanted Cale Makar. A move that I'm sure Hextall will never forget seeing what a star Makar has turned out to be with the Colorado Avalanche.
Clarke went on to say, "There were other choices that we made in our draft that we're paying for. We've got 2 or 3 first round picks that are never going to play and that's why we're struggling, Hexy made some huge mistakes."
Hextall was fired by the Flyers, and is now with the Flyers' rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, as general manager. I wonder how things will go in Pittsburgh. Keep in mind though, Brian Burke is Hextall's boss so he won't be there long if he makes the same mistakes in Pittsburgh.
