NHL insider Frank Seravalli has stated that NHL players will NOT be attending the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.
There are simply too many risks. Nothing beats Canada USA international hockey. The NHL should find an alternative to this! Maybe a Canada vs USA best of 7?
A five-week quarantine in a Beijing "isolation facility" was apparently too much for NHL players, and I can't blame them. To be honest, I'd be cautious of coming to China these days, let alone being confined and monitored for five weeks. Without delving too deep into international politics, I'm not convinced it's good to be congratulating China right now. Many countries, including Canada and the US, planned to "diplomatically boycott" the Beijing Olympics due to China's human rights abuses.
Well that sucks! There you have it!
