Blackhawks fans got a scare tonight as rookie sensation Connor Bedard left the game just over ten minutes in as the team visited the Devils tonight.

Bedard Leaves Game Early After Big Hit

The rookie centerman left the ice holding his face after he was hit by Devils defenseman Brendan Smith as he entered the offensive zone on the powerplay. While the Blackhawks were not fans of the hit, the play appeared to be clean and there was no call.

Richardson Provides Update On Bedard's Status

At this point we do not know much about Bedard's status other than the fact that he is healthy enough to travel with the team back to Chicago. head coach Luke Richardson said that we will likely get another update on his status tomorrow after the team doctors have a chance to look at him.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman backed this up, relaying the same message across various platforms.

Bedard has been far and away the Blackhawks best player this year and his presence was sorely missed tonight as the Blackhawks ultimately failed in holding on to a one-goal lead in the 3rd period. The team has a quick turnaround as they play Sunday afternoon. Hopefully, Bedard will dress for that game but stay tuned for further updates on his status in the coming days.
