Jets' Future in Winnipeg Uncertain After Worrying Press Release From Management

The Winnipeg Jets are by no means the most profitable in the league, but a recent statement makes things look much worse than anticipated.

Jets May Be on the Move

The Winnipeg Jets face a lot of issues. They're at the top of many no-trade lists, and the city is tough to sell to free agents.

They equally play in the smallest NHL city, and in the second smallest barn behind the Coyotes.

The team released this statement today:

Winnipeg. The Jets. One Community. One Family.

Since our earliest days, our vision has never wavered - to be a consistent source of pride for our community. Equally important is our responsibility as the steward of professional hockey in Winnipeg.

We endeavour every day to create long-lasting memories for our fans, and connect our generations past, present and future.

Our commitment to keeping the Jets in Winnipeg, forever, has never been stronger. But it takes all of us. Together.

Join us.

This was posted with the link to the website ForeverWinnipeg.ca, which says a lot about the situation.

With the Nashville Predators having sold for $880-million this week, and the price of the Ottawa Senators approaching $1-billion, it's possible ownership might have to take an out if things aren't working in Winnipeg.

If they do leave, hopefully they'll be back in another 20 years!
