William Nylander heads to locker room after getting a knee to the head
The injury bug keeps biting the Maple Leafs as now forward William Nylander has left for the locker room after getting an accidental knee to the head vs. Montreal.
While attempting a push off during an offensive rush, Maple Leafs forward William Nylander ended up slipping and his momentum pushed him into the knee of a
Montreal Canadiens player. Nylander immediately went to the locker room afterwards in a scary incident.
It's disappointing to see such an injury occur especially in such a freak type of way. I'm sure they've practiced the same move dozens of times in practice with no fail so seeing it fall apart in game and Nylander being a casualty because of it is very disappointing to not only Maple Leafs fans, but hockey fans as a whole. It's never a good thing to see players go down for any reason, but something as innocent as this is quite surprising.
Sportsnet NHL analyst and former Maple Leafs forward Nick Kypreos chimed in during intermission and didn't hold back about Robertson's little shove to Nylander to give him some momentum:
"That was...a bush move."
Kypreos is referring to Bush League, a hockey league not known for necessarily the highest standards of hockey etiquette. He also talked about how that type of attitude can lead to a negative impression for Robertson:
"This shows either I'm too slow, or I don't care enough so I'll push you and you can do it."
Nylander is hoping to build off a 40 goal campaign and after his recent transition to center, looked to be in store for a massive season for a Maple Leafs squad that is itching for some playoff success.
Let's hope that the injury is nothing serious and Nylander is just taken out as a precaution. We will update you as soon as more information is available.
