Analyst has revealed what it will take for Mitch Marner's next contract extension as he is set to become a pending UFA in 2025.

It will be an interesting summer regarding Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs as the trade rumors continue to swirl around.

Whether he is still a Maple Leaf going into training camp or not, the expectation remains the same, he will not be a member of the Maple Leafs on July 1st, 2025.

We now know what it will cost for the next Mitch Marner contract.

The Leafs and Brad Treliving will have to make a tough decision whether they want the Toronto native to extend longterm with the Leafs, or a looming trade that can see them acquire many future assets and possibly save salary to improve other areas to their team.

"What if the people that love Mitch Marner, love Marner as a player at the salary he is making right now or less than that and not at the salary he is likely going to command in free agency which is somewhere between $11.5 and $13.25 because that's the Toronto salary that he's put himself in.

Could you see a scenario where a team trades for Marner and gives him an 8x$13M deal a year. Sam Reinhart's not even going to get that this season."

Frank Seravalli doubles down on his Mitch Marner take:

"I think the Leafs are going to make a play and basically back him into a corner over the next three weeks, saying, 'Mitch, it's been great, but we're moving on. So whether it's now or eight months from now, your time's up.'"
