It was revealed on Friday that TSN and former Ottawa Senators defenseman Marc Methot had parted ways, ending the tenure of the beloved analyst with the network.

When NHL players decide to hang up their skates, a fair number of them decide to head behind the desk and become analysts for various networks with arguably the most well-known and most entertaining being ex-enforcer Paul Bissonnette.
One of those who was extremely well-known in the Ottawa area was former Senators defenseman Marc Methot, who spent 304 games with the club and put up some of his best hockey during that span.

Marc Methot And TSN Split

Having last played in the 2018-19 season, and officially retiring in 2021, Methot has spent the last few years being a part of the Ottawa Senators broadcast on TSN, bringing his unique analysis and often biased opinion towards his biggest rivals.
But with 2025-26 coming up, the network felt it was time for a change and has decided to part ways with Methot, replacing him with a carousel of special guests and panelists:
For the 2025-26 season, TSN's live regional coverage of the Ottawa Senators features a multitude of TSN Hockey personalities.

Gord Miller, Kenzie Lalonde, and Matt Cullen deliver the call alongside game analyst Jamie McLennan.

Claire Hanna hosts live panel coverage with a rotating crew of analysts and special guests, including Cheryl Pounder, Frankie Corrado, Mike Johnson, Marc Denis, and former Senators head coach Paul MacLean.

They also further added that there was no maliciousness behind the departure and that it was just simply time:
The personalities across all TSN panels can change and evolve from season to season. We're looking forward to delivering great regional coverage of the Ottawa Senators for TSN viewers.

Methot also took time to speak on social media in response to the news, and echoed the network's sentiment and explained his plans for the future:
It's all love from my end. I had a blast working with everybody there. Great people.

Now I'll be shifting my focus on coaching my son's team and looking after our family farm property. It was time.

Marc Methot: From Bruiser To Broadcaster

Methot, 40, was drafted 168th overall by Columbus in 2003, the same draft that held names like Marc-Andre Fleury, Jeff Carter, Eric Staal, and Dion Phaneuf.
He spent six seasons there, registering 275 games and added 51 points (7 goals, 44 assists), 277 blocks and 583 hits.
Traded to the Senators for Nick Foligno, Methot found his footing as a shutdown defender for Ottawa's blueline, and skated in 304 games with the team, recording 69 points (14 goals, 55 assists).
He finished his career with the Dallas Stars, skating in only 45 games with the club and scoring three points.
Methot's time in Ottawa led him to have a less than peachy opinion regarding the Toronto Maple Leafs, something that bled through into his broadcasting:
Methot's departure will give way to other names to come in and give their opinions and analysis for the Ottawa Senators fans.
Though none have the absolute loyalty or dedication to the team like Methot had for years and will leave a big hole that will be hard to fill.
