This summer, the Toronto Maple Leafs have made some solid additions, bringing in the likes of Chris Tanev, Jani Hakanpaa, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Anthony Stolarz and most recently Max Pacioretty, as this team looks to break their lengthy Stanley Cup drought. General Manager Brad Treliving is yet to make a significant trade however, but with so many rumours floating around, the expectation remains that Nick Robertson will be traded, despite his recent extension.
There have been many potential trade suggestions floating around, but this latest one could get it done, with Robertson and Timothy Liljegren shipped out in a deal that would land them an Ontario native in Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers.
On paper, this is one that works for both teams, as the Flyers get two talented players with their prime laying in the future, and for Toronto, they land a veteran center that has tallied a solid 82 points over the past two seasons.
Currently, the Maple Leafs have both Auston Matthews and John Tavares down the middle, but with question marks remaining at the center position beyond those two, it's safe to say that Laughton could be the perfect fit. Sure, giving up two talented players isn't ideal, but with Fraser Minten, Easton Cowan and Alex Nylander all lining up to replace Robertson and many veterans being added on the blue line, they may now be expendable, so this trade would certainly be a good one for both teams.
