The Toronto Maple Leafs revaled their official roster for tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens, confirming that Auston Matthews is out of the lineup.

Yesterday, Leafs captain Auston Matthews had to leave the team practice only after a few minutes with an upper-body injury, worrying many fans of the team as we get closer to the start of the season.

Even if head coach Craig Berube stated in a press conference that Matthews' injury is "nothing serious," it looks like they're taking measures to make sure he's in the best possible condition for the first game of the regular calendar.

He did skate in today's morning skate but isn't in the lineup for tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Rest assured, Leafs fans, other interesting players will be in action at the Scotiabank Arena tonight!

Prospect Easton Cowan will look to bounce back from a tough game against the Ottawa Senators last Tuesday and help the team get its first preseason win under Craig Berube. He will be in a great position to do so, as he will be on a line alongside Mitch Marner and Max Domi, two great playmakers that could help Cowan have his best performance of the preseason.

Mitch Marner, Matthew Knies, William Nylander, and Max Pacioretty will notably be in uniform for the forward group. As for the blue line, it could be a first taste of the regular-season unit: Simon Benoit, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Chris Tanev, Morgan Rielly, Timothy Liljegren, and Jake McCabe are set to defend against the Habs.

Between the pipes, Matt Murray should get the start after a tough first outing against the Senators last Sunday. He stopped only eight of the eleven shots he faced, ending the game at.727 save percentage.

Even without Matthews, the Leafs are in a position to win tonight. Even if the Montreal Canadiens haven't released their roster yet, on paper, Toronto should have the best team on the ice.
