There are a ton of Maple Leafs-centric fan accounts and social media pages floating around, so which are some of the best? Here's our list of the Top 10.
In the year 2025, it's hard to find someone who doesn't have a social media account, and in the world of sports, it seems like everyone from fans to reporters to players all have pages to promote, educate, inspire, or instigate.
There are hundreds of podcasts, analysts, and everyone under the hockey media umbrella who try to give fans the inside scoop about the latest happenings, and for the NHL's most talked about franchise, the Toronto Maple Leafs: There's an abundance.
So here at Hockey Patrol, we're going to list some of our favorites whether they give us the best information, the most entertainment, and everything in between.
Ma, a relative newcomer in the general hockey world considering some of the names who have been around forever, his mix of analysis, charm, and dedication is what makes him worth checking out.
His works include working extensively with 6ix On Ice, a Toronto Maple Leafs analysis and news site, and his position as a US Regional Scout with Dobber Prospects (
@DobberProspects) allows him to give some pretty in-depth and incredibly knowledgeable insights for the next generation of players.
Coincidentally, Ma also works with fellow Hockey Patrol writer and contributor Austin Kelly (@
@AustinReporting) who is the head scout for Recruit Hockey and also quite the brilliant mind himself; so there's a wealth of knowledge for all of your junior hockey analysis.
Plus, no one makes a player card quite like him either:
The combination of knowledge, easily accessible information and passion for the sport leads Ma on the list of names you need to check out.
This one is for the international fans, however it does relate to the Maple Leafs because it's quite often you'll see and hear news about transfers, signings, retirements, etc from overseas that would otherwise go unnoticed.
For example, the Maple Leafs had several of their AHL players head elsewhere and EP Transfers is on the case, here's a couple examples:
We see why this page is important, as it gives fans an easily accessible portal to see where the next Leafs stars are coming from, or going.
The co-host of Leafs Morning Take alongside former defenseman Jay Rosehill, Alberga is a jack of all trades, and is pretty masterful at all of them.
He hosts and directs the Leafs Morning Take show, is a writer for the The Leafs Nation, host of the NHL Fantasy on Ice podcast, and formerly worked with Sportsnet, Sirius XM and the FAN 590.
But it's his no nonsense question style, honesty, knowledge and chemistry with Rosehill gives him a lot to appreciate.
Plus, he's pretty funny too:
One of the more relatable, charming, and intelligent hosts gives him the 8th spot on our list.
The account on this list with undoubtedly the coolest name, he gets points off that alone (and the fact he doesn't give credit to
Mitch Marner in his name helps too, foresight perhaps?).
But it's the easily accessible information he gives on a daily basis that earns him a spot. Often times there will be an article where Willy offers a perspective that not only makes a lot of sense, but always seems to work out logically.
Also a writer for Maple Leafs Hot Stove, he mixes analytics and gives his honest opinion with a knack for calling things before they happen.
Coupling both together, Bissonnette lands himself on the list if only due to his absolute homerism for the Maple Leafs.
If you want entertainment, he's your guy. The NHL on TNT analyst is always one to crack a joke, or at times, create prayer altars to pray the Leafs' playoff demons away.
His podcast though, Spittin' Chiclets (hosted along with Ray Whitney and the Rear Admiral) is often full of candid interviews, stories of locker room chaos, and often a chance for others to poke fun at Bissonnette.
But that love for the Maple Leafs is something else, and while it garners a lot of flak for him, he's unwavering, much like he was in his career.
Plus, there's a personal soft spot for Biz; we both grew up in the same hometown.
While that may garner him an extra brownie point or two, the analysis, comedy, and down to Earth nature of both Bissonnette and the Chiclets podcast gets them almost at the halfway point.
Four Words: Wheel. Snipe. Celly. GIF.
This is the header of Omar's X page, and if you're looking for up to the second highlights and in-game clips; there's no one better.
Sure, having a Sportsnet video is fine and all, but we want moments and Omar captures that.
You wanna see a brutal hit fifteen times in a row? Enjoyed that nasty top-cheese snipe? Wanna see what chaos ensued if you missed the first period? He's got you covered.
In these times of rapid-fire highlights, and instant gratification, nothing beats a GIF and for those who love hockey you should be looking to Omar for that.
Ranking fifth, it is a bit of a surprise candidate within the slew of accounts and pages, but his dedication to his craft and frankly, ease of access in helping relay visuals into articles lands him dead in the middle.
One of the best names in all of hockey media, David Alter runs things efficiently, professionally, and with his own unique blend of charm and reporting techniques.
Never one to beat around the bush, Alter delivers straightforward and to the point information that anyone can access, both from an engagement and financial standpoint.
Editor of The Hockey News, arguably one of the most trusted and credible non-affiliated hockey sites around.
But it's more than that. Alter, for all his knowledge and credibility in the sport also feels extremely relatable to the every day fan. Interspersed with his articles are humorous quips about loonie hot dogs, retro jerseys, and ranking the media's food spread across the league (he could moonlight as a food critic at this rate).
His mix of professionalism, vast knowledge, urgency and love of the game lands him fourth.
3. Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC)
The foremost breaking news reporter, Friedman is unquestionably at the front and center of all things NHL.
Coming up from being an on-screen reporter with The Score, Friedman has settled into being the most trusted insider in the game, and his 32 Thoughts podcast is easily the best around.
Always in the loop, Friedman is first to break several stories, signings, trades, and anything to do with the league, though some might find his abbreviation choices a bit...off-kilter.
Often having fun with it, he'll use BFO for Buffalo (fairly reasonable) to CIA for Chicago (what?) and it often gets a ride out of fans.
But beyond that lies the heart of the matter: He lives and breathes hockey. If there's anyone you want to relay information it's Friedman, and his nightly appearances on TSN and Sportsnet have made him more than a household name.
He's a staple in the hockey world, and it wouldn't be the same without him.
The page is dedicated to the official releases and information that the team carefully curates and puts out on social media. While it's as professional and sleek as a page can be, it also doesn't offer a lot that fans want at times.
Often times, there may be a delay from when we hear a signing or trade happening before the team announces it, and while that has to do with official trade calls; it's still frustrating for fans.
But it also gives us a glimpse into the behind the scenes machinations of the team, and the candid look at times gives fans a chance to see these athletes as human, not just pro sports players.
Who else?! But in all fun, we here at Hockey Patrol try to give you easy access to the latest news, trades, rumors and goings on when it comes to the Maple Leafs. We are extremely grateful for all of our readers and those who take the time to read our work.
Without you, we wouldn't exist.
But now, onto the real #1....
Look, this is going to be controversial but watching Steve Dangle go from fan to viral YouTuber to having some serious skin in the game, there's nothing like an SDPN show to bask in all things hockey.
Along with Jesse Blake and Adam Wylde, the trio of analysts and pundits discuss the NHL, with the Maple Leafs a huge focus (given Dangle's passion it makes sense).
But it's the casual style mixed with genuine analysis and understanding of both the game and inner workings of the league, sense of humor, love of the Leafs, and unbelievable chemistry that lands them so high.
Sure, other podcasts may have more information, and some may be more humorous, but this is the perfect blend of both. If you ever wondered what it would be like for three hockey smart guys to sit around in a garage, chit-chat, crack a cold one, but gain some real knowledge; this is that to a tee.
Is there some bias? Of course, this is a personal list and absolutely subjective. But SDPN comes out on top, and it's going to be exciting to see what chaos ensues this season.
